iABED Billet Coolant 'Crack Pipe' For 2.8 & 3.2 24V VR6 Models
Seen on the 24 valve VR6 models, this is the pipe from the back of the water pump to the thermostat housing, located under the intake manifold. Changing the material to billet aluminium from the OE plastic is intentional, in the hope this is the last time you would need to replace this pipe on your vehicle!
The OEM coolant pipe is made of plastic, like many other components in your cooling system. This plastic becomes brittle over time and exposure to constant temperature change as the vehicle goes through heat cycles over many years of usage. Hence the parts have gained the reputation and nickname of ‘Crack pipe. The iABED part is made from Billet Aluminium to prevent the material issue happening again.
With an added steel drain plug with an easy to remove Allen key, this is a much more comprehensive solution to the stock part.

Please note
- This product is only suitable for 2.8 & 3.2 VR6 24 Valve models. Including MK4 / MK5 R32 & MK1 / MK2 TT 3.2 VR6 models
- This product is NOT suitable for any 12 Valve 2.8 VR6, OR 3.6 24 Valve VR6 models such as Passat R36 / Passat CC 3.6 / Superb 3.6
- If you are using the stock oil cooler on your vehicle. You will need to (currently) purchase seperately a fitting that is M14 x 1.5 to a 12mm barb fitting for the water connection. The crack pipe does NOT include this BUT you will need it! If you are using an additional air cooled oil cooler, you wont require to purchase this seperately and can leave the fitted blank in place.
