Helix clutch kit bedding in procedure for Road cars
Once fitted, drive the vehicle for a minimum of 500 miles, performing as many gear changes as possible. Dont just sit and cruise the 500 miles. The clutch is only bedding in when you are changing gear, if you are cruising at 70 for a few hundred miles the clutch is not bedding in during that kind of driving, so remove any motorway mileage from the miles you are counting towards the clutch bedding in.
In an ideal world, the best way to bed a clutch in is using A & B / smaller roads with a mix of town driving. Dont use the peak torque of the vehicle and dont kick the cars head in whilst bedding in. When you have the 500 miles under your belt, you can start to use the power of the vehicle. If once you get to the 500 mile marker you find you are experincing clutch slip when using more of the cars available power / torque, it is highly likely the driveplate is not yet fully bedded in. If this occurs we recommend to do another 500 miles following the same advice as above to complete the bedding in process.
Helix clutch bedding in procedure for track / Non road legal cars (where you cant bed in on the road over 500 miles)
Whilst warming up the car on track / at a shakedown event, a good 20-30 laps of the track at moderate pace getting in as many gear changes as possible in during the laps, should be enough to bed the clutch in. Once completed, begin to use more of the power of the vehicle, if you experience any slipping towards peak torque. The clutch isnt bedded in yet. Go back to the beggining and try another 10 or so laps of as many gear changes as possible, and repeat.

Good to know about Helix
Helix Autosport can repair / remanufacture a large amount of there parts, if you have an old Helix kit, a worn out driveplate etc, dont just throw it away. You can send it to Helix for them to advise if it is repairable. Driveplates can be relined with new pad material. If you have a Helix kit, dont just assume if the driveplate material is worn you need to buy a whole new kit!
